PROJECT / Visual Narratives: European Borderlines 2011-2012 / LV & TR (on going) The project engages 12 young photography artists from Latvia, Turkey, Iceland, Portugal in a documentary exploration of the four countries representing geographical borders of Europe. The participants (3 from each country) undertake personal projects – documentary and personal studies of the ‘borderlines’ in the duration of 11 months in their own and a resident country, followed by a joint editing workshop. The work is supervised by experienced documentary photographers Vanessa Winship and George Georgiou, and supported by country tutors/coordinators. PROJECT / Middle Town: Picturing the Unspectacular March-December 2012 / Trabzon (TR) & Kuldiga (LV) (on going) Part I: Trabzon During the 1st project workshop in Trabzon, Turkey on 10-16 March 2012, the participants, mentors and organisers met for the first time. The ideas for individual projects were presented and discussed. Further, 2,5 days were spent shooting in Trabzon and from the results, 4 book dummies were produced by the teams of 3 participants (1 Turkish, 1 Latvian, 1 international). The teams had complete freedom to decide on the concept of the book and the layout, the only requirement was that at least one photo from each of the 12 participants should be used in each book.
