The publication accompanying 'Istanbuls Today', presented at Pera Museum from 22 December 2022 to 17 September 2023, opens with an introductory text by curators Refik Akyüz and Serdar Darendeliler, comprising the sections “Some recent Istanbul exhibitions”, “The photographers of Istanbul and the Istanbul of photographers", “Why another Istanbul exhibition?”, and “The subjects, photographers, and writers of Istanbuls Today”.

Going beyond the format of an exhibition catalogue, the publication seeks to deepen through texts the questions and themes addressed by 'Istanbuls Today'. It is enriched by contributions from seven academics, researchers, and writers who work, research, think, or create fiction around the issues explored in the exhibition, and who developed their texts in response to the artists’ works. Like the works presented in the exhibition, these texts form part of the creative process through which 'Istanbuls Today' was developed, as well as its multiple layers of meaning. Alongside an extensive selection of works from the exhibition, the publication also includes biographies of the artists, curators, and writers.
